Welcome Summer 2020 Essex Interns

Essex Realty Group, Inc. President Doug Imber is proud to announce Daniel Sickle and Josh Weinberg have joined the team as summer 2020 interns
“There have been some challenges to hosting a virtual summer internship program. The obvious one being the experience of working in a busy office environment where they would overhear the constant real estate discussions. Usually they would have more exposure via working alongside everyone in the office, but by virtually joining company sales meetings, trainings, and project committees they are able to get a lot of that same exposure…without the commute!” explains Essex Director Jaimie Steinher, one of the leaders of the Essex internship program.
Daniel Sickle recently completed his sophomore year at Cornell University where he is studying hotel administration, real estate, finance, and fashion studies. His last internship at Oxford Capital Group gave him the opportunity to work at an international real estate investment, development, and management firm.
“I was interested in an internship at Essex this summer because I wanted to learn about real estate from a different perspective. Last summer I was able to learn about hotel development and brand strategy, and this summer I am excited to get exposure to mid-market Chicago multifamily real estate and learn more about how a boutique brokerage firm operates,” said Sickle.
Josh Weinberg recently completed his freshman year at University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is studying finance. “I hope to start a career in investment banking after I graduate college as I enjoy paying attention to the stock market. I think learning about the ins and outs of multifamily real estate will help me understand the different ways individuals can diversify their portfolio,” said Weinberg.
Weekly, Danny and Josh are meeting with various Essex brokers for virtual training sessions. Some of the topics covered thus far include analyzing rent and sold comps, career planning, real estate marketing, and understanding multifamily loans. They look forward to future lessons about multifamily renovation strategies, understanding multifamily property building systems, and attending a few socially distant property tours. Together with the Essex Database Committee, they are assisting in adding 2019 and 2020 sales comp data to the company database and then will help turn the data into meaningful and impactful charts that reflect real estate trends over the last 30 years.
Steinher adds, “It has been wonderful working with Danny and Josh this summer. They are always ready to jump into a new project, they both take initiative, and have easily handled every challenge tossed at them so far!”
